Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s picture story, Where the Wild Things Are, has finally been adaptated onto the big screen in a much anticipated cinema release.

The film has been the talking point for many movie discussions in recent times and will come as a relief for fans who have craved seeing the story since its production finished earlier in the year.

Where the Wild Things Are is a story of a young boy Max, who one evening plays around his home, causing trouble in a wolf costume by chasing the dog with a fork and growling at his mum.

When his mother finds him misbehaving, she sends him to bed without supper. In his room, a mysterious, wild forest grows out of his imagination and Max journeys to the land of the Wild Things.

The Wild Things is an adventurous and often scary world, which Max eventually conquers.

Max soon finds, though, that ruling his kingdom is not so easy and his relationships there prove to be more complicated than he originally thought.

Eventually, he becomes homesick and lonely and schemes a plan to return home to his family and friends.

Where the Wild Things Are, is a typical example of the creative mind and exquisite imagination of children.

The journey Max takes viewers on is nothing short of spectacular, and even if you’re not interested in the plot of the film, the special effects should do enough to satisfy most people.

Directed by Spike Jonze, Where the Wild Things Are offers viewers an explosive visual sensation with some amazing graphics and colourful scenes.

The film is set to premiere in Australia on December 3.
