Pre-sale tickets of This Is It – the soon-to-be-released movie comprising footage of Michael Jackson’s preparations for the London concert series he didn’t get to perform – are selling like hotcakes.
Before This Is It opens for two-weeks only at cinemas on October 29, internet ticket pre-sales are breaking records all around the world, from Thailand to the UK. Most importantly, though, Australian cinemas report that plenty of sessions sold out within minutes of tickets becoming available last week.
Ticket sales are exceeding that of blockbusters Transformers and X-Men: Origins and Reading Cinemas says it has not seen pre-release interest like this since the last Harry Potter movie.
This Is It’s Australian premiere is slated for October 28 at Event Cinemas (formerly-GU), George Street, Sydney at 6:30pm, with the public sessions following nationwide several hours later.
With the tagline of ‘Discover the Man You Never Knew’, the movie is said to be an in-depth and private look at Jackson, with rehearsal scenes, interviews with those close to him, and behind-the-scenes footage. This Is It has been produced with the full cooperation of the estate (sorry, that’s Estate) of Michael Jackson and directed by Kenny Ortega (High School Musical franchise).
There are some pre-release tickets available but if I was you I’d get them as soon as possible!
