She’s out of my League is a new comedy sweeping through the Australian big screens.

In short the film I about answering the age old question that is, ‘can an average, out of shape normal looking guy get the hot blonde bombshell everyone is craving for?’.

The movie introduces viewers to Kirk, an average Joe, who can’t believe his luck.

Though he’s stuck in a seemingly dead-end job as an airport security agent, against all odds Molly, a successful and amazingly gorgeous babe falls for him.

Kirk is left jaw dropped! So are his friends, his family too and even his ex-girlfriend.

But now Kirk has to figure out how to make the relationship work, and how to battle with the feelings that Molly is too good for him.”

The film stars Jay Baruchel, Krysten Ritter, Lindsay Sloane and is directed by Jim Field Smith.

One of the best scenes in the flick is when Kirk attempts to shave his private parts to impress Molly, and it’s full on LOL laughing.

But apart from that, there are very few real gold moments in the movie and it falls well short of the mark it had hoped to have achieved.

In summary, She’s Out of my League is out of my league of great movies and gets a six out of ten.

The World’s largest short film festival took centre stage last night in The Domain in Sydney with 75,000 movie buffs watching on as a local film maker take out the title of the 2010 Tropfest winner.

Filmmaker Abe Forsythe won this year’s Tropfest with his short film Shock.

The New South Welshmen beat 15 other finalists to take out the major prize and a shot at international success in the industry.

Shock is the short story of a radio announcer who suffers an emotional breakdown while traveling to work one day.

Forsyth said he dedicated the film to the work of controversial radio jock Kyle Snadilands, and hoped the work will expose the hidden side of celebrity around the nation and the world.

“It asks the audience to maybe look at it from a different perspective – which is, maybe think about how difficult it is for a shock jock to do his job,” he said.

“I hope the audience was moved by my lead character and I hope they feel sorry for him and others that have to do their jobs.”

As well as the ego boost that comes with the first prize, Forsyth will also earn a return flight to Los Angeles to meet agents, executives and industry representatives, $5,000 cash as well as film equipment and services worth thousands of dollars.

Cameron Edser and Michael Richards’ My Neighborhood Has Been Overrun By Baboons took out second prize while Last Roll Of The Dice by Matthew Chuang claimed the final spot on the podium.

In The Loop is a new comedy directed by Armando Iannucci, the genius behind The Day Today.

The film is itself a spin off from the successful BBC comedy series The Thick of It, which satirically critiques politics in the current world we live in.

In The Loop is based around the theme of the western world beginning a war in the middle east.

The controversy begins when the Minister for International Development, Simon Foster (played by Tom Hollander) accidentally states that a proposed war in the Middle East is “unforeseeable”.

Although he gets grilled by the Prime Minister’s enforcer Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi), the statement coincides with a visit by high-up U.S. officials who jump upon the phrase and begin to use Simon, as a pawn in an international game of politics.

The film actually follows the exact format as the TV series The Thick of It, and if you are a fan of the comedy show, you will be sure to enjoy In The Loop.

The film has a tendency to go off the rails at times and really take the piss out of international politics, which adds to quite a humorous plot.

All in all the movie will make you laugh, cringe, and at times be scared to laugh at the controversial lines dished out.

Starring Tom Hollander, James Gandolfini, Peter Capaldi and Steve Coogan, In The Loop delivers a great satire on the US and UK political lunacy on the issue of war.
