It’s good to see the movie world adapt to the 21st century.

One genre that has been slow in making the move to adapt to the new popular culture we live in has been the superhero genre.

For years we have been living in the memories of Superman, Batman, Spiderman and never really tried to make a new breed of fighting superhero’s.

Until now.

Kick Ass is a new release by director Matthew Vaughn, and is all about new age superhero’s, known as a group called kick ass.

At the beginning we are introduced to Dave Lizewski, an unnoticed high school student who lives comic books so much that one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training.

He is eventually joined by Red Mist, Hit Girl and her dad, known as Big Daddy and they form a team to dismantle vandals, evil people and bad guys.

While doing so, they have heaps of funny moments, and really do adopt a humorous approach to their lives.

This is summed up by their slogan, which reads:

I can’t read your mind. But I can kick your ass.

I can’t be invisible. But I can kick your ass.

I can’t fly. But I can kick your ass.

I can’t see through walls. But I can kick your ass.

Shut Up. Kick-Ass.

Have fear. They’re here.

A new breed of superheroes will be revealed.

All in all, Kick Ass is a great little movie, and is out now at most cinemas around the country.

In The Loop is a new comedy directed by Armando Iannucci, the genius behind The Day Today.

The film is itself a spin off from the successful BBC comedy series The Thick of It, which satirically critiques politics in the current world we live in.

In The Loop is based around the theme of the western world beginning a war in the middle east.

The controversy begins when the Minister for International Development, Simon Foster (played by Tom Hollander) accidentally states that a proposed war in the Middle East is “unforeseeable”.

Although he gets grilled by the Prime Minister’s enforcer Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi), the statement coincides with a visit by high-up U.S. officials who jump upon the phrase and begin to use Simon, as a pawn in an international game of politics.

The film actually follows the exact format as the TV series The Thick of It, and if you are a fan of the comedy show, you will be sure to enjoy In The Loop.

The film has a tendency to go off the rails at times and really take the piss out of international politics, which adds to quite a humorous plot.

All in all the movie will make you laugh, cringe, and at times be scared to laugh at the controversial lines dished out.

Starring Tom Hollander, James Gandolfini, Peter Capaldi and Steve Coogan, In The Loop delivers a great satire on the US and UK political lunacy on the issue of war.

Funny People is one of those movies that really didn’t do as well as it should have done on the big screens.

Released late last year, the comedy film was expected to smash the box office with a wave of love by fans, but it didn’t quite achieve those heights.

The strange thing about all of this is that Funny People really is a good movie.

Just like the Shawshank Redemption did, expect Funny People to become a DVD success, with people talking about it in the high regards they currently give movies like Anchorman and Napoleon Dynamite.

The movie is all about stand up comedians, in particular the famous George Simmons, played by Adam Sandler, who finds out he is dying and decides to hire a younger comedian (Seth Rogan) to be his PA until that time comes.

The two form a strong friendship and before you know it they become best friends, tearing apart the comedy world.

Eventually Simmons goes in pursuit of his long lost love that happens to be married to an Australian, ironically played by Eric Bana.

In the end controversy surrounds the plot, but comedy still remains the dominant theme.

In summary, putting three hilarious actors in the same film is often viewed as a mistake, but not in Funny People.

The latest creation from Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up) is more than funny, and offers some great tips for any wannabe stand-up comedian.
