Following Ice Age: The Meltdown, life is changing for Manny and his friends. Scrat is on the hunt to keep his beloved acorn while a potential romance blossoms with a female sabre-toothed squirrel. Manny and Ellie, now an item, are expecting a baby. Manny becomes anxious to ensure everything is perfect for when the baby arrives.

Diego becomes tired with being treated like a house-cat and wonders whether he is too laid back. Sid begins to long for a family of his own and steals some dinosaur eggs, leading him to a strange underground world where his herd must come to the rescue. Meanwhile, the gang is forced to dodge dinosaurs and face danger all over the place.
