Bruno comes to Australia
Bruno, the “hottest” gay Austrian fashionista right now has finally hit Australian shores. The knight in shining armour paraded around Sydney’s CBD causing a stir. Bruno asked the thousands of fans “”Vassup Sydney! Do you like my helmet?” as he made his way down Market Street.
The character has created a huge buzz, first appearing on Australian TV show Rove and followed by his Sydney parade, which was the final stop on his world tour. Bruno will hit cinemas in Australia next week.
Over the past 18 days we have seen the flamboyant fashion reporter in seven countries, spruiking the new Bruno film in a variety of ‘statement’ ensembles. Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen plays the dramatic fashion character and Bruno has certainly created global attention.
Bruno first fronted Australian media in a schoolboy uniform and made comments about the film, and some of Australia’s most respected people. Bruno has taken a liking to our Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and wasn’t afraid to share his opinions on Rove and at the media press conference.
He told the media Rudd was “uber cute” and that he was the highlight of his trip down under. The combination of Bruno’s outlandish antics and the PM’s presence helped Rove receive the best ratings of the year. The show pulled an average 1.541 million viewers, according to Channel 10 data.
The characters promotion for the film seems to be working, making his presence known in a variety of countries in just a few days. Bruno told the crowds he hopes the movie” realises its full global potential and doesn’t peter out after a promising start like swine flu.”
The new comedy is about an eccentric (gay) Austrian fashion reporter who travels to America to interview members if the fashion and entertainment industry for an Austrian TV show.
Bruno believes “fashion can solve most of the world’s problems,” and is keen to be the gay role model, which he hopes will make him the biggest Austrian celebrity since Hitler.
Bruno is Cohen’s second mockumentary after his 2006 success Borat. Bruno will be on Australian film screens on July 8.

This is going to be soooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooood….
Even if it is half as good as Borat it will be sweet.
