Will Burton (Gaelan Connell) has been an outcast his entire life and expects nothing more when he transfers to a new school in New Jersey. But while the same rules of cliques apply in this new school, he falls right into place amongst the rock-and-roll-loving scene. He strikes up a friendship with a like-minded outsider, Sam (Vanessa Hudgens). They are both surprised when the most popular girl in school (Alyson Michalka) invites Will to join her band and compete in “Bandslam”, a battle of the bands for high school students. Will finally finds himself able to use his love of music to make a difference.
