Despite all the academy award nominations, box office records and huge popularity all the previous Spiderman movies received, it was the fourth installment of the movie series that is the most dramatic.

After months of speculation on whether or not the Hollywood blockbuster would go ahead, producers finally announced this week that Spiderman 4 will still go ahead.

The beginning of the cobwebs started on Monday when director Sam Raimi had reportedly decided to leave the project.

The production company decided to g ahead with the film without him, but would not delay it release at all, which was the main reason Raimi pulled out.

In a domino effect decision, star Tobey Maguire announced he will not be taking any part in the fourth installment, influencing the decision of many other co-stars in the movie.

But, despite the controversy and lack of consistency with the previous three releases, Spiderman 4 still looks like going ahead.

In a statement to the media, Sony confirmed they were still dedicated to the project.

“Peter Parker is going back to high school when the next ‘Spider-Man’ hits theaters in the summer of 2012,” the statement said.

“(The film) Will focus on a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises.”

With deadlines fast approaching for the Spiderman 4 production, there is every chance it could very well be dead and buried.

But for now it is simply a waiting game for Peter Parker and his super human powers.
