Patrick Swayze lost his fight to pancreatic cancer on Monday, he was 57.
Much of Hollywood has paid tribute to him, many of his co-stars and some from people he’s never met but touched in someway.
His leading lady from one of his most popular films, Jennifer Grey from Dirty Dancing lead the tributes: “He was fearless and insisted on always doing his own stunts, so it was not surprising to me that the war he waged on his cancer was so courageous and dignified.”
Demi Moore, Swayze’s co-star in the movie hit Ghost said; “his light will shine forever.” In the film the actress played Molly Jensen, the widow of murdered Sam Wheat. She added, “Patrick you are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives. And in the words of Sam to Molly, “It’s amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.” I love and will miss you Patrick.”
Whoopi Goldberg, who also starred in Ghost, added; “Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can’t ever repay.” Goldberg also said, “I believe in Ghost’s message. So he’ll always be near.”
Actor Rob Lowe who shared the brat pack years said; “Patrick lived a thousand lifetimes in one lifetime. He was an expert dancer, he wrote hit songs, he starred in hit movies, he was an amazing horseman. But the thing I will remember him most for was his amazing love affair with his wife Lisa. He played my brother twice, in The Outsiders when I was 17, and then in Youngblood. Tonight I lost a brother.”
Star of Cheers Kirstie Alley wrote: ‘I will always cherish my amazing memories of Patrick… we had so much fun together… come back soon Patrick, we need you here on earth.’
Keanu Reeves described his Point Break co-star as, “he was a beautiful person, an artist. Patrick, he just wanted to experience life and for his work, he wanted to take the opportunity of the film and it gave him that sense. I can say what I know – that he lived life to the fullest. My sympathies and condolences go out to his friends and family.”
