It’s been a battle of the prequels at the box office this week with the debut of J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek reboot. As Wolverine finishes its third week of showings, it’s no match for Trek which is being lapped up by the masses, as expected – read Christian White’s review of Trek here.
Matthew McCougnahey’s The Ghost of Girlfriends Past has had quite a subdued debut week due to the release of Trek. It seems that not too many people have noticed the offerings of the romcom, but in saying that we’re still talking big bucks in third place.
Honourable mentions go to Fast & Furious for not quite dropping off the face of the earth fast enough and to new Aussie flick Samson and Delilah for actually starring in the top 10 at all – something an Aussie film hasn’t achieved for a long time.
