As is the trend in recent times with major blockbuster films, an adaptation of the movie into the video game format is almost the norm.

The latest to follow in the trend is Ubisoft who are expected to release Avatar: the game to the general public next week.

With the film set to make its impact on the big screens over the next month, the video game version is almost acting as a possible spoiler for the avid fans of the movie.

Many question marks surrounded how the game play will pan out, and how the actual imagery will look like.

Avatar: The Game will offer a suite of competitive multiplayer options, which, though modest, sport a handful of features to help distinguish it from other online shooters.

On the surface, there’ are two major rivals in the game, the Na’vi and the humans: The Na’vi are nearly twice as tall as the human RDA with skin that is a bright shade of blue. But the differences don’t end there.

The humans and Na’vi sides use very different weapons, vehicles, and skills. Playing as the human RDA side, you can customize the look of your character as well as your weapons and skill capabilities.

The graphics are actually rather impressive, and the overboard-shooting style of playing is not lost by any major letdowns.

The real winner of the game is the multiplayer options, which really allow users to feel part of the game, or movie….. Whichever term you like to use.

Avatar will make its cinema release on 17 December.
