The zombie franchise of movies continues this summer with the expected release of Zombieland.

The new film, directed by the ironically named Rueben Fliescher, will follow in the footsteps of 28 Weeks Later, Land of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and even the comedy, Shaun of the Dead.

It has been almost three years since we last saw a zombie killing film, but Zombieland could not come at a better time.

With recent horror films lacking that real viewer interest, the expected release comes as a breath of fresh air in the genre, with some great killing scenes, mixed with great humour.

The movie, as is the case with most zombie flicks, begins with a peaceful world taken over by a zombie ridden epidemic.

In the blink of an eye, chaos sets in with civilians having to work together to survive against the ill faced, flesh eating humans.

Woody Harrelson stars in the movie, with a support cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin.

The basic plot of the film is centered around the narrator, a College student called Columbus (Eisenberg) who is on his way back home to see if his parents are alive.

He loses his car in an accident and encounters Tallahassee (Harrelson). They travel together and when they stop at a grocery store, they meet two sisters.

From here the group begins savage zombie killing spree, which will make you laugh, scream and jump out of your seats.

There is a great killing scene involving a piano, and some great gore filled moments.

Zombieland hits the Aussie screens this December.
