2009 was a great year for cinema, as it is almost every year.
With the advancements in technology, and the always improving creative flair shown by directors, it was no surprise to see yet again a handful of amazing films released throughout the year.
Movienation.com.au takes a look at the top ten films for the year that was:
10. FUNNY PEOPLE – A witty look at stand up comedians and a great blend of talent.
9. 500 DAYS OF SUMMER – An intelligent comedy which surprised us all.
8. A SERIOUS MAN – The Coen brothers were back again, and failed to disappoint
7. ZOMBIELAND – Another zombie movie, and another great flick.
6. REVOLUTIONARY ROAD – With Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the film, it was never going to be a flop.
5. STAR TREK – The movie was a long time in the making and one which the fans craved for so long.
4. MILK – Cleaned up at the Oscars, and it was not by chance.
3. INGLOTIOUS BASTERDS – Any Tarintino release is going to be a hit, and this was no exception. A great take on the WWII era and one made better by the likes of Brad Pitt and co.
2. THE WRESTLER – releases at the start of the year and was by far the true ‘story’ of the year. We laughed, we cried, and a spectacular Mickey Rourke blew us away.
1. AVATAR – Even though it only jus snuck in, the impact it had in its premier week speaks for itself.
