Great news for all the horror fans out there, with confirmation the ghost face, slash-kill horror franchise Scream will be making a come back to our cinema screens.

After more than a decade break since the last movie was made, writer Kevin Williamson has confirmed he is in talks with director Wes Craven about re-introducing a new trilogy of screams to the public.

The first Scream movie was made in 1996 and proved to be a smash hit that revolutionized the horror genre.

Films like I Know What you Did Last Summer, Urban Legend and even Scary Movie were all inspired by the film.

Although the next two installments did not carry the success shown by the first Scream movie, they still were popular enough to ensure a large following of fans remained.

Scream 4 is believed to introduce a whole new cast, a whole new murder plot, but the ghost face and black drape suit will remain.

Neve Campbell, who played Sidney Prescott is set to return to the new film, as too our the only remaining survivors of the Woodsboro murders: Gail Weathers, played by Courtney Cox, and Constable Dewey, played by David Arquette.

There is also a rumour that the character Randy, who was butchered in the second installment, will make a comeback in some shape or form.

The movie is in pre production at this stage and there are hopes it will be ready for cinema release by the end of the year.

With the horror genre facing a similar stage as it did almost two decades ago, the expected release of Scream 4 is the answer the horror world is looking for.
